This archival, hand-sewn journal is made from 100 gsm, antique white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Germany, sewn with  Irish linen thread in the linked pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.

This book’s endbands are brown and yellow cotton, and its bookmark is pigskin.  Its boards are wrapped in a 1958 map of the United States’ National Parks, and its spine is covered in pigskin.

The talisman in this book is a vintage souvenir coin from Yosemite National Park, which is shown on the map on the book’s cover. In 1864, President Abraham Lincoln signed the Yosemite Valley Act, the world’s first legislation to set aside land for public enjoyment. We can thank Lincoln’s vision for the National Parks System.
