This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 80 gsm Mohawk Superfine archival paper stitched with Irish linen thread in the linked pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.
This book’s endbands and bookmark are Alran French goatskin. Its spine is covered in pigskin, and its boards are wrapped in a 1940 map of the United States.
The talisman in this book is a 1920 buffalo nickel. President Teddy Roosevelt commissioned the buffalo nickel, and he commissioned his friend James Earl Fraser to design it. A Midwesterner, Fraser went to the Art Institute in Chicago and then to the Beaux Arts Academy in Paris. He often drew his subject matter from the American West, which was changing rapidly in the 19th century United States.
The custom slipcase is included.
