Sweet Home
This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584. It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.
The book’s endbands and bookmark are goatskin. Its boards are wrapped in a 1953 blueprint of the Hydrogen Manifold Platform at the Kyger Creek Electric Corporation in Cheshire, Ohio, and the book is half-cloth in Brillianta book cloth from the Netherlands.
The talisman in this book is a 1930 medallion from the 75th Anniversary of the founding of Crane Company, the engineering firm founded in 1855 in Chicago, which is still in operation.
