This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, rose Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584.  It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts.  This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.

The book’s endbands are pigskin, and its bookmark is goatskin.  Its boards are wrapped in a mid-century road map of Indiana distributed by American Standard, and its spine is covered in book cloth from the Netherlands.

The talisman in this book is a 20002 Indiana state quarter, featuring an Indy Car racing automobile.  The state motto of Indiana, adopted in 1937, is “The crossroads of America.”
