Sky Scraper
This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 80 gsm Mohawk Superfine archival paper stitched with Irish linen thread in the linked pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.
This book’s endbands and bookmark are French goatskin. Its boards are wrapped Washi paper that was silk-screened in a Japanese factory where kimono silk is printed, and its spine is covered in Saffiano French goatskin, the finished preferred by the Italian fashion house, Prada. It was processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Utah.
The talisman in this book is a 1930s souvenir pendant from the Empire State Building. It’s obverse, obviously no longer accurate, reads: “Empire State Building, Tallest Building in the World, 1250 Feet.” Bragging rights are brief. Shout it while you can.
