This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, rose Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584.  It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts.  This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.

The book’s endbands and bookmark are goatskin. Its boards are wrapped in paper that was hand-marbled by Betty Caponi in Monte San Giusto, Italy, and its spine is covered in Alran French goatskin that was processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Utah.

The talisman in this book is a commemorative casting featuring the bronze sculpture “The Cheyenne” by Frederick Remington (1861-1909).  Born in New York and trained at Yale University, the cousin of the firearms manufacturer, Remington fell in love with romantic images of the American West which he captured in paint and sculpture.
