 This book’s endbands are brown and gold silk, and its bookmark is goatskin.  Its spine is covered in pigskin, and its boards are wrapped in a contemporary map of the Chicago region.

The talisman in this book is a commemorative medallion celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Upper Avenue Bank of Chicago, which moved to the John Hancock Center when the central Chicago landmark that was completed in 1969. The building is 1,127 feet high and weighs more than 340 million pounds.  If you’ve been to Chicago, you’ve seen it.
