This archival, hand-sewn journal is made from 85 gsm Arches hand-laid paper from France stitched with Irish linen thread in the linked pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts.

Its endbands are navy and blue silk, and its bookmark is calfskin.  The spine of this book is covered in top-grain, split French goatskin, and its boards are wrapped by paper that was hand-marbled by Betty Caponi in Monte San Giusto, Italy.

The talisman in this book is a swimming medal from the early part of the 20th Century. It shows, in its sculptural detail, a pair of swimmers in blustery seas. The swimmer in the foreground is being bested by the competition.  Let that inspire the both of them.

This book is approximately 6 x 10” with a few more than 150 blank pages inside.
