This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, antique white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany since 1584, sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.
This book’s endbands are green and white cotton, and its bookmark is goatskin. Its boards are wrapped a 1940 map of the United States, and its spine is covered in Alran French goatskin that was processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Utah.
The talisman in this book is a vintage ball marker the Master’s Gold Tournament in Augusta, Georgia. In 1940, Jimmy Demaret won his first of three Master’s titles, and his purse was $1,500. By contrast, in twenty years later, Arnold Palmer earned $17,500 in 1960; and today the Master’s purse is more than 2 million dollars.
