This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, rose Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany since 1584, sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.

 This book’s endbands are brown and yellow cotton, and its bookmark is goatskin.  Its boards are wrapped in paper that was hand-marbled by Betty Caponi in Monte San Giusto, Italy, and its spine is covered in French goatskin that was processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Utah.

The talisman in this book is a large bronze medallion commemorating the wines of the Douro in Portugal.  It depicts grape pickers coming down the mountain with boxes of fruit balanced on their heads. The Douro is the sole wine region in Portugal, but the country is still the 11th largest wine producer in the world.
