This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584. It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts. This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.

Its boards are wrapped in a 1971 road map distributed by Standard Oil Company, and its spine is covered in Alran French goatskin that was processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Sandy, Utah.

The talisman in this book is a souvenir medallion from the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair.  In contrast to the “White City” of the 1893 fair, the temporary fair buildings were rainbow colored forty years later, and the theme of the exhibits was “Century of Progress.”
