N. B. This commissioned book is nfs.

This archival, hand-sewn journal/sketchbook is made from 100 gsm, antique white Hahnemühle Ingres mouldmade paper from Dassel, Germany, made on the same site since 1584.  It is sewn with Irish linen thread in the linked stitch pattern that was developed by the ancient Copts.  This stitch allows the book to lay open easily at any page.

The book’s endbands are blue and gold silk, and the bookmark is goatskin. Its boards are wrapped in a 1956 map of the United States of America, and its spine is covered in Alran French goatskin processed at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply in Utah.

The talisman in this book is an early 20th Century French Art Deco medal cast by Fraisse sports for the Undersecretary of Physical Education.  Its obverse reads: “Sous-Secretariat d’Etat de L’Education Physique.  Offert par le Ministre.”  Stay strong.
